The Folk, Round and Square Dance Federation of North Carolina hosted its annual fall meeting on Saturday, November 17, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Since 1990, over 125 Western style dance clubs throughout North Carolina have been “promenading” while raising funds for hospice organizations statewide. A total of $603,287.15 has been raised by the Federation to support excellent end of life care to North Carolinians. Over $46,287.15 was raised this year, and will be   >>more>>

The Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care was the recipient of a donation from the 5th Bob Deakin Foundation Charity Golf Classic held recently at the Crooked Creek Golf Club. Total donation to date is $11,650.00. Rob Deakin, son of Bob Deakin, is president of the foundation and returns with his wife each year to Fuquay-Varina, NC from Las Vegas, NV, to participate. In his letter sent with this year's donation, Rob said, "I believe everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly and continue to find the hospice cause a worthy one to support." The Carolinas Center presented Mr. Deakin with a plaque in appreciation for generous support 2002-2006.   >>more>>

Cuidando con Cariño, Compassionate Care HelpLine 1.877.658.8896


The Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care is pleased to announce that families that have a loved one facing a serious or life-threatening illness now have a new resource to go to for free information. Cuidando con Cariño, Compassionate Care HelpLine is a toll-free phone line (1.877.658.8896) that offers information and resources for people living with or caring for someone with a serious illness.

The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) has partnered with the National Alliance for Hispanic Health (NAHH) to create the Spanish-language HelpLine, Cuidando con Cariño, Compassionate Care. This new service was launched on August 3, 2006. Both organizations are committed to providing quality service to Spanish-speaking callers.   >>more>>

The Folk, Round and Square Dance Federation of North Carolina hosted its annual fall meeting on Saturday, November 19, in Thomasville, North Carolina.

Since 1990, over 125 Western style dance clubs throughout North Carolina have been "promenading" while raising funds for hospice organizations statewide. A total of almost $526,000 has been raised by the Federation to support excellent end of life care to North Carolinians. Over $33,370.00 was raised this year, and will be distributed to 38 hospices in North Carolina through The Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care in Cary, North Carolina. The Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care supports and promotes access to quality palliative care through the end of life.

The Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care has received a $300,000 grant from The Fullerton Foundation, Inc., to implement a project entitled "Interdisciplinary Educational Specialty in End of Life Care." This project seeks to improve the interdisciplinary preparation for students in social work, nursing, chaplaincy, public health, and counseling education.

Developed in collaboration with The Center for Child and Family Studies (CCFS), College of Social Work, USC, the project will be administered through CCFS and will involve students from that university as well as Clemson University and the South East Regional Division of Clinical Pastoral Education. The current grant represents continued support provided by the foundation following a previously funded planning grant for this project.

The mission of The Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care supports and promotes access to quality palliative care through the end of life in both North Carolina and South Carolina.

Since 1990, over 125 Western style dance clubs throughout North Carolina have been “promenading” while raising funds for hospice organizations statewide. A total of almost $493,000 has been raised by the Federation to support excellent end of life care to North Carolinians. Over $33,700 was raised this year, and will be distributed to 34 hospices in North Carolina through The Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care in Cary, North Carolina.
