The Folk, Round and Square Dance Federation of North Carolina hosted its annual fall meeting on Saturday, November 19, in Thomasville, North Carolina.
Since 1990, over 125 Western style dance clubs throughout North Carolina have been "promenading" while raising funds for hospice organizations statewide. A total of almost $526,000 has been raised by the Federation to support excellent end of life care to North Carolinians. Over $33,370.00 was raised this year, and will be distributed to 38 hospices in North Carolina through The Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care in Cary, North Carolina. The Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care supports and promotes access to quality palliative care through the end of life.
The Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care Receives Fullerton Foundation Grant
The Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care has received a $300,000 grant from The Fullerton Foundation, Inc., to implement a project entitled "Interdisciplinary Educational Specialty in End of Life Care." This project seeks to improve the interdisciplinary preparation for students in social work, nursing, chaplaincy, public health, and counseling education.
Developed in collaboration with The Center for Child and Family Studies (CCFS), College of Social Work, USC, the project will be administered through CCFS and will involve students from that university as well as Clemson University and the South East Regional Division of Clinical Pastoral Education. The current grant represents continued support provided by the foundation following a previously funded planning grant for this project.
The mission of The Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care supports and promotes access to quality palliative care through the end of life in both North Carolina and South Carolina.
