5th Annual Bob Deakin Foundation Charity Golf Classic

The Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care was the recipient of a donation from the 5th Bob Deakin Foundation Charity Golf Classic held recently at the Crooked Creek Golf Club. Total donation to date is $11,650.00. Rob Deakin, son of Bob Deakin, is president of the foundation and returns with his wife each year to Fuquay-Varina, NC from Las Vegas, NV, to participate. In his letter sent with this year's donation, Rob said, "I believe everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly and continue to find the hospice cause a worthy one to support." The Carolinas Center presented Mr. Deakin with a plaque in appreciation for generous support 2002-2006.

    Mission Statement:
"To assist individuals and families coping with terminal illness and provide positive life experiences to youth." The Bob Deakin Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established by the Deakin family to honor Bob, who died of cancer in 1994. Through advocacy, fundraising and philanthropy, the Foundation hopes to achieve its objectives of assisting individuals and families coping with terminal illness as well as providing positive life experiences for youth.

Bob Deakin, a career insurance agent and former PGA golf touring and club professional, was a devoted family man with a great sense of humor, a positive spirit and a zest for life. He was very passionate about his faith in God, his family, his love for the game of golf and service to his community. We believe the Charity Golf Classic embodies all of these aspects of Bob's life while it demonstrates the Foundation's commitment to raise awareness and financial support for important groups such as Hospice. The foundation raises money to support these causes through an annual golf tournament as well as other area functions.
